E-Readers

My book covers designed to fint an iPad and a Kindle Fire tablet.

Final Design

Final Design: Stage 3 - Content

This is the point where I incorporated my titles that i had designed prior to adding them in here, and added in my text for the blurb and spine.

I then added in the publisher's logo to the spine and the back of the cover, and also placed the barcode and ISBN as required.

I also added in a short line from the book to place on the gatefold on the right-hand-side. This was to fill the space but after i had done it, I feel that it was a very nice way to use the space.

On the gatefold on the left-hand-side I placed a photograph of the author Dennis Lehane with a few words that he said about what he was feeling and thinking when he wrote the novel.

Final Design: Stage 2 - Text boxes

I then added in the slightly transparent textboxes in which my text and titles would sit, and be seen more clearly because of the detailed background images.

Final Design: Stage 1 - Imagery

The first step I took was to lay out all the background images I would be using. By doing this first I was able to lock these images so that when I added the other elements, the image would stay put in the background.

Template

For this task, I had to work around a template, with ready made measurements.

Potential Background Images

I have chosen to display an image behind the text on my front and on the back of my book cover. All the images that could potentially be used on my book cover link to the content of my book.

Final Typeface

After experimenting with different typefaces, text sizes and layouts, I came to a final design for my title text. UI used the font Guilder that is a slim, italic font.

Potential Typefaces

After choosing to go for a more simplistic look in terms of the type, i chose from three different typefaces. Guilder, Bebas Neue and Impact.

Title Ideas

I have gone for a more simplistic approach with these titles. I feel that less is more in most areas of design so I have chosen to use no more than two basic sans serif typefaces.
